PADI Discover Mermaid
Have limited time on Koh Tao? Mermaid courses don’t have to be multi-day experiences, so this half-day try mermaiding program could be the perfect way to dip your toes into this fascinating fantasy world.
The PADI Discover Mermaid program introduces you to simple mermaid activities in shallow water. You’ll start in water shallow enough to stand up before progressing into slightly deeper water to practice your new-found mermaid skills.

PADI Basic Mermaid
While still a short, one-day program, the PADI Basic Mermaid course takes the core components of the PADI Discover Mermaid program and develops your understanding further with additional knowledge, principles, skills, and practice time.
As well as more time in the water to connect with your inner mermaid, the course content covers more in-depth information about the background of mermaid diving and culture, and includes a more comprehensive introduction to mermaiding equipment and safety considerations.
Like the discovery program, the PADI Basic Mermaid course consists of two sections split into knowledge development and in-water learning:

01 Elearning Review
We’ll issue your mermaid e-learning materials in advance so you can read and review them in your own time. On the day of the course, you’ll go over the short knowledge review with your instructor, who will answer any additional questions you have before getting in the water.
02 Water Sessions
Who can enroll:
Anyone in good physical health who can float comfortably at the surface for at least 3 minutes and swim at least 25m (80ft) without swimming aids.
PADI Mermaid
The most popular of all the mermaid courses on Koh Tao, the PADI Mermaid program includes knowledge development and at least two water skill sessions to help you develop more dynamic mermaid skills beyond what we cover in basic mermaid training (please note that this course incorporates all of the knowledge and skills covered in the PADI Basic Mermaid program, so there’s no need to take both courses separately).
On this full-day program, you’ll be introduced to skills that make mermaiding an underwater self-expressive art, completely separate from other types of diving.

PADI Advance Mermaid
In the PADI Advanced Mermaid course, you'll build on your PADI Mermaid certification and learn how to apply what you learned in an open water environment.
Taking your love for mermaiding out of the pool and into the ocean provides the potential for longer mermaid swims. And, of course, there’s heaps more freedom to express yourself!
You'll learn the basics of how the open water environments differ from a swimming pool and be introduced to more advanced open water mermaiding techniques. You'll also learn all about the aquatic life you’ll be sharing the ocean with and how to interact safely and avoid harm.

Who can enroll:
Anyone in good physical health with an existing PADI Mermaid certification (or a qualifying certification from another mermaid organization). Participants must be able to float comfortably at the surface for at least 10 minutes and swim at least 100m (320ft) without swimming aids.
